1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to website operators.
In addition to cookies, we also use localStorage, a browser storage mechanism that allows websites to store data locally on your device. Unlike cookies, localStorage data is not automatically sent to the server with every request.
2. How We Use Cookies
Speed Signal AI uses cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
- Authentication: To securely identify you after you log in and maintain your session across page loads.
- Preferences: Selected filters, active tab, and other display settings stay in localStorage. The dark/light preference uses essential first-party cookies so the website, dashboard, and sign-in pages remain consistent.
- Consent tracking: To remember your cookie consent preferences (stored via localStorage).
We use Microsoft Clarity for optional analytics (see the Analytics Cookies section below). Clarity cookies are placed only after you consent to the Analytics category in our cookie banner; if you do not consent, no analytics cookies are set. We do not currently use cookies for advertising or marketing purposes. If we add such cookies in the future, we will update this policy and request your consent through our cookie banner.

Below is a detailed breakdown of all cookies and storage mechanisms used on our site, organized by category.
Essential Cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function. They enable core features like authentication and secure login. You cannot opt out of essential cookies because the service cannot operate without them.

Functional Cookies
Not currently in use. If we add functional cookies in the future, this section will be updated and your consent will be requested through our cookie banner before any such cookies are placed on your device.
Analytics Cookies
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with our site and dashboard, through aggregated usage statistics, heatmaps, and session recordings. This helps us find and fix usability problems. Clarity is optional: these cookies are placed only after you accept the Analytics category in our cookie banner, and you can withdraw consent at any time (see Section 6). Session recordings mask sensitive input fields by default. If you do not accept the Analytics category, Clarity does not load and no analytics cookies are set; if you withdraw consent after accepting, Clarity stops recording and its first-party cookies (_clck and _clsk) are removed.

After you accept the Analytics category, Clarity may also set cookies on Microsoft domains (such as MUID, CLID, ANONCHK, MR and SM). These cookies are controlled by Microsoft and are not removed by our site when you withdraw consent; you can delete them through your browser settings.

Marketing Cookies
Not used. We do not place marketing or advertising cookies, so our cookie banner does not offer this category. If we add marketing or advertising cookies in the future, this section will be updated and your explicit consent will be requested through our cookie banner before any marketing cookies are placed on your device.
4. Local Storage Usage
In addition to cookies, we use your browser's localStorage to store the following data. This data stays on your device and is not sent to our servers with your requests (your theme choice is also kept in the ss-theme cookies described above).

We also use your browser's sessionStorage for short-lived technical flags that prevent repeated page reloads after sign-in or when the dashboard resumes. The dashboard's service worker keeps copies of site files and of the most recent dashboard data in your browser's Cache Storage so the dashboard loads faster; the cached dashboard data is deleted when you sign out.
5. How to Manage Cookies
Using our cookie banner
When you first visit our site, a cookie banner appears with Essentials only, Accept all and Manage preferences. Under Manage preferences, each optional category has its own switch, and your choice is saved as soon as you change it; there is no separate save button. Closing the banner with the X keeps the choices shown, so if you have not switched anything on, only essential cookies are used. You can change your preferences at any time (see Section 6 below).
Using your browser settings
Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically:
- View and delete existing cookies
- Block all cookies or only third-party cookies
- Set preferences for specific websites
Please note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from logging in and using the dashboard. Here are links to cookie management instructions for common browsers:
6. How to Change Your Consent
The easiest way to review or change your choices, including withdrawing consent for analytics, is to reopen the consent banner: on speedsignal.com, use the Cookie preferences link in the footer; in the dashboard (app.speedsignal.com), go to Settings → Privacy & data → Cookie preferences. Your choices for speedsignal.com and for the dashboard are stored separately in your browser, so change them on each site you use. Alternatively, you can reset your consent record directly in your browser:
- Open your browser's Developer Tools (press F12 or Ctrl+Shift+I)
- Go to the Application tab (Chrome/Edge) or Storage tab (Firefox)
- Under Local Storage, find the entry for our site
- Delete the
ss-cookie-consentkey - Refresh the page: the cookie banner will appear again
Alternatively, clearing all site data for our domain in your browser settings will also reset your consent preferences.
7. Third-Party Cookie Policies
Our third-party service providers have their own cookie and privacy policies. We encourage you to review them:

- Stripe (payments, on Stripe-hosted checkout and billing pages): stripe.com/privacy

Optional features you choose to use (for example, an optional third-party chart) may set their own cookies, governed by their providers' policies. Our other service providers are listed in our Privacy Policy.
We do not control the cookies set by these third parties. Their use of cookies is governed by their respective privacy policies.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legislation, or our business practices. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
If we introduce new cookie categories (such as marketing), we will request your consent through an updated cookie banner before placing those cookies on your device.
